Dionysus, Demeter and Artemis get reunited to bring back all the power of the wild nature.

Here we are again, another incredible year with lots of surprises and challenges ahead. For this year, our swimwear collections will be released in “Acts”, three to be more precised. Act I has just been launched and consists in another Fusion collection, our signature design. The layout of the new Fusion Wild Nature collection has a little twist in the layout in comparison with the previous Fusion collections but still holds the same meaning which is the combination of all the colors of a previous released collection.

If you all remember the Wild Nature collection, Dionysus the god of wine was represented by the vermilion red, Demeter goddess of agriculture was represented by the musg green and Artemis god of the haunting was represented by the ocher present in the woods.

From Lyctus we are still committed to keep on promoting body positivity, a movement for self-acceptance and appreciation of all body types. This has gained significant traction in recent years and while initially was more focused on women, this movement is now making substantial inroads into men’s fashion, challenging traditional notions of masculinity and reshaping the industry. Our handmade sustainable premium swimwear looks to reflect and support this movement in order to make a change in today´s society.

Breaking Down Stereotypes

Historically, men’s fashion has been dominated by a narrow portrayal of the ideal male body: tall, muscular, and lean. This image has been perpetuated by media, advertising, and even the fashion industry itself, leaving many men feeling inadequate if they do not fit this mold. However, the body positivity movement is challenging these stereotypes, advocating for a broader representation of male bodies.

This shift is crucial. Men, just like women, experience pressure to conform to unrealistic body standards, leading to issues such as low self-esteem, body dysmorphia, and eating disorders. By promoting body positivity, the fashion industry can help alleviate these pressures and foster a more inclusive and accepting culture.

One of the most significant changes brought about by the body positivity movement in men’s fashion is increased representation. In Lyctus we feature models of diverse body types, sizes, and ages. This includes not only average-sized men but also those who are larger, shorter, or differently abled. Such representation helps normalize a variety of body shapes and sizes, sending a powerful message that all bodies are worthy and valuable. This is also the reality, It is what we see when we go to a beach or in a holidays trip.

We believe that using plus-size models and offering a wider range of sizes is not enough but It is a good start. These efforts are not just about inclusivity but also about recognizing each and every of you, our loyal customers.

Fashion Beyond Size

Body positivity in men’s fashion also extends beyond size to include issues of body hair, skin tone, and even disabilities. Our campaigns have highlighted real men with real bodies, emphasizing qualities like kindness, strength, and vulnerability over physical perfection. Our campaigns challenge traditional notions of masculinity and encourage men to embrace their authentic selves.

The Role of Social Media

Social media has played a pivotal role in advancing body positivity in men’s fashion. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok provide spaces where men can share their personal journeys, celebrate their bodies, and support one another. Influencers and activists use these platforms to challenge stereotypes, promote self-love, and showcase a variety of fashion styles for different body types.

Hashtags like #BodyPositive, #AllBodiesAreGoodBodies, and #MensFashion have become popular, creating communities where men can find inspiration and encouragement. This digital support system is crucial in amplifying the body positivity message and reaching a wider audience.

It is also true that not everything we see in social media is real and sometimes the wrong message can be sent or misinterpreted. This is also why from Lyctus we try hard to make it clear that everyone can wear our pieces and feel sexy on their own skin.

The Road Ahead

While significant progress has been made, there is still a long way to go. The fashion industry needs to continue expanding its definition of the ideal male body, ensuring that all men feel seen and valued. This includes more diverse representation in advertising, broader size ranges in clothing, and ongoing conversations about body image and self-acceptance.

Body positivity in men’s fashion is not just a trend but a necessary evolution. It is about recognizing the diversity of male bodies and celebrating each one. As this movement grows, it has the potential to create a more inclusive, accepting, and confident generation of men who are proud of their unique bodies and personal style.

We keep on pushing boundaries, be brave with us. Be unique, wear unique!
