PRESENTING PONTUS

Ebbing, flowing, and embodying the sea itself, Pontus, came about and filled the world with water. He was the sea: immense, powerful, and untameable. No one could predict his chaotic and natural behavior, and as the sea, he represented both creation and destruction.

Pontus, as a primordial being that predates both the titans and gods, is the water itself and similar to past Lyctus collections, PONTUS emphasizes an all-mighty and vast entity. But this time, all three models represent different aspects of the sea.

One of the most gorgeous places you can visit in the ocean is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia; you can even see its beauty from space! Although many believe coral to be simply a rock, it is actually an animal that can be found in a variety of shades of purple, blue, green and red throughout the sea, coral is also the name of a color, which was chosen for this collection.

You may not find the gemstone aquamarine in Pontus’ great depths; however, aquamarine is a portmanteau of two Latin words that together mean the “Color of the sea”. This attractive shade of light blue can be found throughout the most beautiful beaches and seas of the world, and it´s a great choice for calm, relaxing moments in the water.

Last but not least, there’s only one true star of the sea, and it’s not even a fish despite having fish in its name. Starfish are actually invertebrates and are incredible creatures with the ability to regenerate that can be found throughout Pontus’ realm. In the PONTUS collection, they are represented by light pink, the perfect shade for the summer.

As always, all three pieces are made by hand and with sustainable fabric that is very breathable. At Lyctus we appreciate caring for the ocean and water that we swim, dive, and refresh ourselves in, and our promise to take care of the environment around us is of the utmost importance.
